MAJ03473 Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical engineers work towards the enhancement of health and improving the quality of life through the design of medical devices and the implementation of new technologies. Students of this inter-disciplinary major learn the fundamentals of human biology, medical science, diagnostics, biomechanics, regenerative medicine, polymer sciences, mechatronics, electrical systems, and information technology. The coming together of these areas allows students to understand the operation of living systems and to design novel solutions to global problems in medicine and biology. Our students and researchers collaborate on cutting-edge research projects with other schools, centres and various industry partners. This major provides students with the skills and experience to further their biomedical engineering careers. Graduates will become proficient in working with other engineers and diverse stakeholders such as IT professionals, medical staff and researchers due to this inter-disciplinary approach.
