MAJ09209 Economics

Businesses operate within the economy and many of the prospects and problems faced by a business are influenced or determined by the economy. Consequently, many business leaders emphasise the need for business managers to understand the economy and its impact on business. The Economics major is accordingly valuable for business students. The subjects in this major provide students with the professional skills, knowledge and understanding that enhance their capabilities in each of the professional areas within business.

Course programs for each individual major are available at study plan management.

Students intending to apply for the honours program in economics should take two of the following optional subjects: 23506 Strategic Decision Making and Game Theory, 23508 Quantitative Methods in Economics and Business, 23509 Empirical Methods for Policy Evaluation.

Students undertaking the Economics major with the following sub-major will need to substitute an alternative subject:

  • SMJ09058 Econometrics students must substitute an alternative subject from the MAJ09209 Economics option list in place of 23571 Introductory Econometrics.
