Description

This subject immerses students in the conceptualisation, development, and documentation of a substantial design project within their chosen discipline of Fashion and Textiles, Product Design, or Visual Communication. Through hands-on activities and workshops, students define the scope of their design project and explore cutting-edge design methods. They leverage scholarly literature to deepen their expertise and refine their theoretical research capabilities. Students refine their concepts through independent research and experimentation, culminating in a collection of innovative design artifacts that propose the trajectory of their major project. They articulate their findings through a written essay and comprehensive design documentation, aiming to convey the significance and impact of their project while establishing themselves as influential figures in their respective design fields.

Teaching and learning strategies

This subject operates within a dynamic design studio framework, encompassing various discipline-specific components such as workshops, lectures, mentoring, presentations, industry feedback, self-directed tasks, and collaborative peer interactions. Active participation and proactive self-initiative are pivotal to achieving success in this course. Sessions are run on campus, unless otherwise notified.
