Description
Innovation Project B offers students the opportunity to co-design their own learning
experience to explore innovation in a global or national setting(s). Students are
encouraged to immerse themselves in leadership and innovation beyond the usual
confines of academic study at UTS, and explore the diverse, socio-cultural context of
creative intelligence.
Subject learning objectives (SLOs)
Upon successful completion of this subject students should be able to:

Course intended learning outcomes (CILOs)
This subject contributes specifically to the development of the following course intended learning outcomes:
- Identify and evaluate complex challenges by analysing system dynamics, constraints, and potential leverage points, using disciplinary perspectives, evidence, and diverse viewpoints. (CII.1.1)
- Identify, create, and employ a range of appropriate creative intelligence methods and boundary-crossing methodologies to construct and solve problems and generate transformative possibilities (CII.2.1)
- Practice mutual, responsible value creation, including the implementation of sustainable and entrepreneurial innovation. (CII.3.1)
- Communicate transdisciplinary ideas and solutions succinctly and persuasively using appropriate modalities. (CII.3.2)
Teaching and learning strategies
Learning in this subject is largely done independently with the support and guidance of project supervisors, partner organisations or third party providers. There might be preparation workshops and online materials that support students' learning and reflection through the project.
Assessment
Assessment task 1: Reflective Report
Intent: | Students write a reflective report outlining what activities they undertook during their project against a set of goals they set at the start. These must include insights into innovation practices in the context of their learning. They reflect on what they learnt/did, how they learnt, what interfered with or assisted their learning, what they struggled with, and how this might apply to their current/future career. |

Assessment task 2: Presentation
Intent: | Students practise their career development skills by presenting 3 key learning outcomes and examples of their innovation project in the form of behavioural and situational job interview answers. |

Minimum requirements
Attendance and completion of the overseas program (evidenced by uploading a certificate of completion of the host organisation) is a requirement for students participating in a global short program. Students engaging with an independent innovation project have to complete at least 105 hours and evidence these hours.
Student who do not complete these minimum requirements will receive a fail (x) grade.
