Teaching and learning strategies

In this subject, students will plan their learning experience via an individually negotiated learning contract with an academic or professional supervisor prior to enrolment in this subject. This formal learning contract includes a title, abstract, learning outcomes, in SLO format, and a deliverable schedule including mark allocation. Together with their supervisor, students will determine the goals they wish to achieve and then decide on the activities and strategies they will need to engage in to facilitate these goals. They will negotiate suitable assessment tasks to contribute to a professional portfolio that will enable them to demonstrate engagement in the goals identified and the degree to which subject learning objectives have been met.

Content (topics)

The individually negotiated learning contract will determine the appropriate content for each student and must be documented in the directed study application form prior to enrolment.

Students should have identified an appropriate staff supervisor and discussed the directed study project before application to this subject.
