Description

This subject is designed for clinicians, health service managers, planners, and aspiring health sector professionals. It offers a deep understanding of the political and policy contexts influencing the funding and delivery of health service and social care services.

Students learn to navigate the complexities of policy-making, from conception to implementation, and manage the impact of media and stakeholder power and influence. They consider how policy problems are defined, and by whom, and the evidence needed to support and persuade decision-makers. Students also reflect on the ethical dimensions of policy-making.
