Description

This subject is designed for clinicians, health service managers and other health and social care professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of patient safety and healthcare quality. It offers insights into the systemic causes of errors in care, and equips students with an understanding of the significance of safety culture and cultural safety.

Students will learn about open disclosure, complaint management, and the importance of ongoing patient, family and carer engagement. The curriculum also includes contemporary approaches to safety and quality improvement, with a focus on adhering to Australian national standards. Teaching methods involve interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises to apply knowledge in real-world settings.
