This subject builds upon the foundation studies of mechanics undertaken in introductory physics subjects. It takes advantage of mathematical methods to analyse the motion of particles and bodies under the influence of forces and fields. The subject covers advanced topics of classical mechanics, such as dynamics in force fields, coupled oscillators, and rotational motion. The subject also provides an introduction to Lagrangian formalism in mechanics. The emphasis is on the development of advanced problem-solving skills.
