Overview

The UTS Online Graduate Diploma in International Relations is an exit-only qualification from the UTS Online Master of International Relations (C04455).

Building on the foundational knowledge gained in the first four subjects, students explore additional core subjects such as Geopolitics and Australian Foreign Policy, the Asia Pacific in the 21st Century, and Global Crime, Justice and Security, and one elective.

Career options

Career options are varied and graduates may build careers across business, public service, government, research and the humanitarian sector.

Course intended learning outcomes

1.1 Employ effective strategies to navigate professional interactions across diverse cultural contexts in Australia and internationally.
2.1 Apply understanding of international relations theories and concepts to the analysis of real-world case studies and global issues.
2.2 Apply research methods and data analysis techniques to address complex global issues.
3.1 Demonstrate proficiency in navigating intercultural dynamics in Australia and internationally.
4.1 Critically analyse Indigenous communication and engagement contexts to inform capabilities to work with and for Indigenous peoples across international relations professions.
5.1 Demonstrate a critical perspective on current sustainability practices and act in socially responsible ways in both domestic and international settings.
6.1 Effectively communicate complex concepts and arguments related to international relations to diverse audiences in a variety of global contexts.

Course duration and attendance

This course is an exit only course and can be completed in a minimum of 16 months of online study, 1 x 6 credit point subject per session over 8 x 7-week sessions.

This exit only course comprises a total of 48 credit points and consists of 7 core subjects and 1 elective.
