Overview

The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Sourcing, Procurement and Logistics is a specialist postgraduate qualification that develops the fundamentals of strategic sourcing, operational procurement and logistic processes and strategies as they build a resilient, sustainable and inclusive supply chain.

The Graduate Certificate subjects are designed to ensure 'relevance to workplace', instantly adding value to careers and organisations by utilising analytical skills in sourcing, procurement and logistics and adopting strategic approaches to influence economic, environmental and social impacts.

Course aims

This course equips professionals with the knowledge needed to critically analyse, apply and reflect on innovative models and effective techniques applicable to strategic, ethical and sustainable sourcing, procurement and logistics management.

Career options

Completing the program could lead to roles such as Procurement Lead, Procurement Manager, Operations Coordinator, Supply Chain Manager, Production Manager and Logistics Manager.

Course intended learning outcomes

1.1 Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to identify opportunities and formulate creative options for complex real-world problems in sourcing, procurement, and logistics supply chain management
2.1 Employ interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and communication strategies to effectively engage and influence diverse stakeholders at multiple levels
3.1 Explain principles of ethics, sustainability, and knowledge relevant to Indigenous contexts to guide supply chain managers in making informed decisions to engage with Indigenous businesses in sourcing, procurement and logistics
4.1 Apply knowledge of sustainable sourcing, procurement and logistics concepts with technical and commercial capabilities to lead professional practice

Admission requirements

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.

Minimum Academic Requirement: The previous qualification must be in a related field, within the business or engineering discipline.

All applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirement in a related field may still be considered on the basis of:

  • a minimum of at least two years full-time, or equivalent, relevant work experience.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirement may still be considered on the basis of a minimum of at least four years full-time, or equivalent, relevant post-secondary work experience.

The relevant work experience must be demonstrated through a C.V. and a Statement of Service, confirming the dates of employment and the position held within the organisation.

The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

Recognition of prior learning

Students in the Graduate Certificate are not granted exemptions for any prior studies.

Course duration and attendance

The course is offered on an eight months, full-time basis (i.e.. 1 x 6 credit points subject per session over 4 x 7-week sessions).
Approval to study more than one six-credit point subject per session will be subject to Faculty approval.

Course structure

The course comprises a total of 24 credit points.
