Description
This subject is designed to provide students who have good knowledge of the Spanish language with intermediate reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. It corresponds to Level A2 (lower intermediate user) of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages. A range of authentic reading materials, including texts with regional and social variants and specific registers such as narrating personal experiences, are developed, allowing students to engage in others’ experiences. This pathway moves them to more complex genres. They further develop their skills in planning, organising and presenting their ideas in Spanish and developing a sophisticated understanding and appreciation of aspects of the cultures of Spanish-speaking people. Students develop intercultural understanding and engagement by recognising, exploring, interpreting and moving between the languages and practices of two or more cultures. Students take an active part in collaborative learning activities to practice and consolidate their language skills.
