This subject is designed to provide students who have completed 97201 Japanese Language and Culture 1 or equivalent with further knowledge of Japanese language in basic spoken and written interactions. Upon successful completion of the subject, students are able to communicate in common social situations in everyday life in Japanese. While focusing primarily on the development of speaking and listening skills, the subject also provides a working knowledge of approximately 100 kanji.
It also facilitates a broad understanding of and engagement with the sociocultural contexts in Japan relevant in undertaking in-country study.
Students take an active part in learning activities to practice and consolidate their language skills with their peers.
