Description

This subject provides students with an overview of the principles and practices of primary health care with an emphasis on Indigenous primary health care. Students explore the history of the development and introduction of primary health care as a system of health provision both internationally, within the Australian context and within Indigenous health. Students are introduced to the social determinants of health, the social determinants of Indigenous health including racism, colonisation and intergenerational trauma and examine the concept of equity in health care.
