This subject enables students to understand how midwifery skills promote the normal physiology of labour and birth. This subject also addresses the importance of incorporating elements of normality within complex situations. This involves understanding how altering the birth environment and using appropriate language and debriefing techniques can positively affect the course of labour and birth. It also articulates how different clinicians can affect labour and birth.
