This subject provides an intensive experience in regional Australia. It encourages interdisciplinary learning and offers a unique experience in which students discover and synthesise new cultural knowledge. The studio focuses on Aboriginal knowledge, culture and language as it manifests itself across Australia.
Students are accompanied during the studio by academic staff members who contextualise the cultural experience onsite and facilitate self-reflection and/or lead components of the project itself in collaboration with the host organisation. Students visit sites of significance and connect with a range of invited speakers.
The studio is orientated towards understanding different models of knowledge production and transfer with specific emphasis on areas of knowledge that directly relate to the design disciplines offered within UTS: Design, Architecture and Building.
