Undergraduate
Description
This elective will instigate students to explore forms of narrative and performative expression through the combination of audio-visual montage and spatial installations. Along one preparatory week and two intensive weeks, students will iteratively explore discursive, spatial, temporal and aesthetic (dis)junctions between the script (that will depart from a given bibliography) and the montage of an audio-visual piece using historical archives, film excerpts, YouTube contents, advertising, animations, and any other existing or newly produced footage.
Finally, students will develop installations to establish an immersive dialogue with the flatness of the screen. Students will reconcile rhetorical and linguistic figures such as metaphor, synecdoche, metonymy, sign, symbols, allegories, etc. through the assemblage of objects, lights, props, materials, atmospheres and bodies that will convey depth, meaning, and architectural qualities to the audio-visual projects.
