Being a successful leader in science requires a complex set of technical and interpersonal skills. Project and people management, as well as effective communication are the key professional competencies needed for successful leadership. This subject focuses on leadership competencies in science environments, covering a range of tools and methods to develop basic skills in the areas of project, people and stakeholder management. Students develop specific technical skills in planning and managing projects, as well as building teams and establishing and maintaining effective communication channels. The focus is also on developing and demonstrating the ability to understand and critically apply a diverse range of communication and leadership styles, present and promote ideas, and influence and facilitate organisational dynamics in science and project environments.
