43011 Industrial Control System Security

6cp
Requisite(s): 42037 IoT Security OR 41305 Industrial IoT Studio

Description

This subject provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices involved in safeguarding critical infrastructures using Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) against cyber threats. Students explore the unique challenges and vulnerabilities associated with these systems, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control System (DCS) infrastructure. They learn to prepare, assess, analyse, and mitigate risks by gaining knowledge on a range of standard frameworks and implementing secure defensible architectures, access controls, threat intelligence and intrusion detection systems. Through hands-on lab exercises and industry case studies, students develop the skills needed to secure critical infrastructure and protect against potential cyber-attacks targeting industrial control systems and operational technology.
