41383 Process Simulation

6cp
Requisite(s): 41117 Introduction to Chemical Process Engineering

Description

This subject illustrates the principles for numerical modelling and, computer simulation and computer visualisation of industrial chemical processes. Students develop skills to use modelling and simulation software to analyse the interaction between individual unit operations such as reactors, separators, and heat exchangers in a complex chemical process. Using process simulations, students solve problems related to chemical processing, energy, and sustainability. Upon the completion of this subject, students will gain an appreciation of the basic principles for modelling and simulating safety, optimisation, intensification, implementation, and sustainability of chemical engineering processes.
