Experiments are an important part of research in all areas including science, medicine, engineering and marketing. Many ideas on how to design a good experiment are independent of the area of application and this subject covers standard principles of good design applicable to all areas. It covers standard designs (completely randomised, randomised complete block, Latin squares and factorial designs) for testing hypotheses about treatment means, discusses how to design experiments to study variances, and discusses assumption checking and transformations.
