35009 Vector Calculus and Electromagnetic Theory

6cp

Description

Vector Calculus is a central part of both Applied Mathematics and Physics. The aim of this subject is to introduce vector calculus within the framework of Electromagnetic Theory, which is the most immediate and compelling application of vector calculus and so gives a solid foundation in both areas for students in both physics and mathematics. The subject covers the mathematics of vector calculus, and then uses tools and concepts from vector calculus to study electric and magnetic fields, electromagnetic waves (i.e. light), and connects with the fields of optics and special relativity.
