Description
This subject is designed to provide an understanding of the field of sustainable finance, which has been increasing in importance in the last few years. Students learn about the planet’s social and environmental challenges and the critical role of transitioning the economy to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Students learn about the main functions of the financial system, long-term value creation and how this applies to sustainability. Students learn about the role of governance and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in steering company behavior. Students develop an understanding of financially material Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) factors to learn the advantages, complexity and challenges of ESG incorporation into investment decisions. Current frameworks and industry practice will be analyzed and incorporated into the underlying theories. The subject draws on the experience and expertise of senior academics and industry practitioners.
