Corporate finance is about value creation, expansion and profitability within global markets. This subject aims to develop students’ managerial perspective on corporate financing, with a focus on analysing and developing investment and financing information for informing strategic decisions. Students are provided with knowledge on key principles, analytical tools and techniques to enhance their skills in dealing with financial issues and to make a contribution to supporting the business strategy of the organisation. In particular, students will understand how to determine and interpret operating cash flow, the time value of money, capital budgeting, the cost of capital and capital structures, and differing techniques for analysing risk and return. Through application to contemporary case studies, students develop their competency to make strategic decisions by analysing financial information in a variety of different scenarios.
