This subject explores the two arms of sport development, namely the development of sport, and development through sport. It evaluates how public policy impacts upon sport organisations and their development foci on national and state levels. The subject also explores sport-for-development initiatives including an investigation into the wider social utility of sport, sport’s role in the community, as an agent for social change, and as a means for intercultural engagement.
