Description
This is the capstone subject for the Tourism major in Bachelor of Management. Its main aim is to encourage students to integrate their learning from other subjects within the degree and apply their acquired knowledge and skills to address issues associated with contemporary travel and tourism. The issues are presented mainly by the academic staff and/or industry practitioners, and students are required to undertake research in order to address the issues. Through this process, students gain the following skills and capabilities: project management and development; enquiry; critical thinking; data collection, analysis and interpretation; report writing; and team-work.
Students’ active engagement with research methods and outcomes in this subject helps them to become lifelong learners. The issue-based approach employed in the subject and the involvement of industry practitioners exposes students to professional practice.
