Capstone research project (Master of Local Government )
This is the second subject of the capstone research project for the Master of Local Government (C04257). Having completed the essential preparatory steps for the research study in 15623 Research in a Local Government Context A, students work together with a supervisor, who supports them in carrying out the reading, research and writing necessary to conduct original research and complete the dissertation.
Students defend and debate their research study at a structured session where they are assessed on their skills at presenting, and inviting feedback on, complex arguments and ideas. The dissertation is presented in draft form as a formative assessment, and together with the feedback from the academic defence and the ongoing support of the supervisor, the student produces a final version of their dissertation.
