Description

This subject covers essential aspects of project leadership at the strategic, governance, program, project and team levels.

Topics include traditional leadership theories and emerging leadership theories applied to traditional, agile, complex and megaprojects. The competencies required by project leaders at personal, interpersonal and organizational levels as well as the role of the project leader as a coach or a mentor is elaborated. The ethical legal and social responsibilities of leaders in practice are also examined. Students are exposed to narratives of real project leaders, engage in role playing activities, and work on case studies to enable them to apply the concepts learnt in the subject in practice. The subject contributes to graduate attributes related to ethical judgements, communication, systems thinking, organizational management, teams and leadership, and critical engagement.
