028231 Professional Experience 2: Introduction to Classroom Management

6cp; 15hrs (mixture of 1hr lectures and 2hrs workshops), 15-day school professional experience placement To comply with health advice from NSW Health, the planned delivery of this subject for Spring D 2021 has been adjusted. Activities planned for campus in the first 3 weeks of session are being moved online. Activities for the remainder of the session (post-PEx) will be scheduled on campus only if the public health situation permits face-to-face learning in available teaching spaces. During an extended professional experience, students develop capabilities in the three domains of teaching: professional knowledge; professional practice; and professional engagement. This subject targets classroom management specifically by exploring what effective teachers do to proactively organise inclusive learning environments to maximise student engagement in learning and minimise disruption. The subject draws upon evidence-based classroom management practices to provide students with the skills and understanding required to begin to manage learning environments.
