Students explore how people learn languages, particularly additional languages. The learner’s socio-political as well as individual contexts are treated as critical dimensions to understanding the strengths and needs of language learners. Students examine and draw upon different explanations of what language learning means and how it occurs in learners’ specific contexts. Through the study of language development, students are guided in their own academic English language development.
