010059 Subject Design

This subject develops university teachers' capacities to design an effective learning environment for higher education, inclusive of all students and based on institutional models of learning. Drawing on research in subject design and academic policies and practices, participants examine their students' learning context, review key concepts to be taught in their subject and consider the likely impact of alternative teaching methods for an effective learning environment. Participants plan a series of teaching and learning activities for one of their subjects ensuring consistent alignment between objectives, assessment, and course objectives. Participants evaluate the effectiveness of their design choices benchmarked against the theory-informed strategies learnt in the subject.
