SMJ01053 Professional Writing
The Professional Writing sub-major offers choice to develop skills in editing, publishing, reviewing, and writing with a focus on understanding the publishing industry and cultural context. With a breadth spanning contemporary literary books and non-fiction manuscripts, many of the principles can be applied to other forms of text publications such as magazines and textbooks. Students increase their understanding of how professional writing practices are situated in cultural and institutional, publishing and media contexts. The sub-major meets a range of needs for those who want to start a career in writing, editing and/or publishing, and for experienced writers who want to develop and enhance their existing knowledge and skills.
