Overview
The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics is a unique transdisciplinary program of study in business analytics. With subjects drawn from UTS Business School, the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, students are provided with a course structure that fits their background and experience, as well as flexible specialisations to meet new needs and career interests. The course is delivered fully online, part-time, enabling students to continue to work full-time while attaining the business analytical skills to take control of their career and apply the skills they learn in the course immediately at work, regardless of their industry. In addition to the on-campus degree, UTS offers an online Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics.
The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics is tailored to professionals who want to diversify their career options and gain the agility, confidence and competence to influence organisational decisions through data. Unique to UTS Online, students apply industry relevant skills to their professional situation in the Foundation and Innovation Studios. Regardless of the type of industry they are in, the studios provide a space to apply their learnings and identify, design and facilitate data-driven solutions to influence organisational change.

This course develops students' learning agility to secure a career in a world where it’s essential to harness the power of data. Demand for business analytics professionals is rapidly growing across industries, broadening career opportunities like never before.
Career options
The course is suitable for students from both business and IT backgrounds looking to upskill and develop the skills required to meet the growth in emerging careers in business analytics. Career options are incredibly varied as most companies across all industries collect huge amounts of data that needs to be interpreted and analysed to inform key decision-making. Graduates from this program are able to provide valuable insights on matters including fraud detection, and logistics optimisation through to customer acquisition and retention and demand forecasting.

Admission requirements
To be eligible for admission to this course, applicants must meet the following criteria.
Applicants must have one of the following:
- Completed Australian bachelor's degree or higher qualification, or overseas equivalent, in a related field of study with more than 75% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included)
OR
- A minimum of 4 years full-time or equivalent part-time, relevant post-secondary professional experience AND a general capacity to undertake tertiary education
Applicants with a completed bachelor’s degree who do not meet the criteria above may be considered with more than 60% of all subjects completed at pass level (conceded pass not included) AND a minimum of 2 years full-time, or equivalent part-time, relevant post-degree professional experience.
Related fields of study:
Accounting, Banking, Commerce, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, Project Management or other related field of study (e.g. Engineering) with sufficient background in business, databases or computer programming
Relevant professional experience refers to any current work experience in which you have developed skills, knowledge, and competencies directly related to the course for which you are applying. This includes roles such as managers, professionals, technicians, community, personal service, clerical, administrative, or sales workers across various industries.
Supporting documentation to be submitted with the application
For applicants who need to demonstrate work experience:
- Curriculum Vitae AND Statement of service in one of the following formats:
- A 'Statement of Service' provided by the employer
- A completed 'UTS statement of service’ signed by the employer
- A statutory declaration confirming work experience (for Australian Residents only)
- An official letter from the applicant’s accountant or solicitor on their company letterhead confirming the applicant’s work experience or engagement with the business, duration of operations, and the nature of the business
- A business certificate of registration in original language and English (e.g. provision of ASIC documentation or ABN or similar documentation for Australian Businesses)
The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64 with a writing score of 50; or C1A/C2P: 176-184 with a writing score of 169.

Recognition of prior learning
Students in the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics are not granted exemptions for any prior studies.
Course duration and attendance
The course can be completed in a minimum of eight months online study (i.e. 1 x 6 credit points subject (or equivalent) per session over 4 x 7-week teaching sessions). A 6 credit point subject requires an average of 15-20 hours of study per week.
Approval to study more than one six-credit point subject (or equivalent) per session will be subject to Faculty approval.
