Overview

The UTS Online Graduate Diploma in Strategic Communication is an exit-only qualification for the UTS Online Master of Strategic Communication.

The course was designed using the latest, most current communication scholarship and in collaboration with industry to ensure that the activities and materials are grounded in contemporary challenges and techniques.

Career options

Career options are varied as strategic communications is a function in most if not all organisations and companies across all industries. Graduates may build a career in communication agencies or in ‘in-house’ roles and can seek opportunities across the corporate, government, and not-for-profit sectors.

Course intended learning outcomes

This course engages with the following Course Intended Learning Outcomes (CILOs), which are tailored to the Graduate Attributes set for all graduates of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:

1.1 Be skilled at the application of the body of practice-oriented knowledge and skills used? to develop, implement and evaluate innovative and multi-media solutions to real-world communication challenges in a team environment
2.1 Critically analyse and reflect on strategic communication models and practices to plan and execute a substantial body of research that synthesise information across diverse platforms in response to communication issues and challenges
3.1 Recognise, interrogate, and negotiate cultural values and differences amongst individuals, organisations, communities, and society
4.1 Apply knowledge of Indigenous perspectives in strategic communication practice to build capabilities to work with and for Indigenous peoples
5.1 Understand what is required for leadership of communication strategy development that address challenges and implement solutions on issues of exclusion, equity, cultural difference and social justice
6.1 Persuade and engage diverse audiences through both written and oral communication strategies across a range of media formats with consideration of others' needs and views?

Course duration and attendance

This course is an exit only course and can be completed in a minimum of 16 months of online study, 1 x 6 credit point subject per session over 8 x 7-week sessions

This exit only course comprises a total of 48 credit points and consists of 7 core subjects and 1 elective.
