Description
This subject is the second in a series of four subjects designed to provide students who have no prior knowledge of the Spanish language with the basic survival skills in language and culture. Emphasis is given to the development of speaking and listening skills required to establish and maintain relationships in social or work-related spheres, and fulfil basic survival needs in a Spanish-speaking environment. Students also expand their reading and writing skills. In addition the subject focuses on the development of sociocultural understanding relevant to appropriate language use. This subject corresponds to Level A2 (basic user) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe). This subject forms the basis for further study (Spanish 3).
