Description

This subject provides students with an understanding of how important the economic landscape, both local and global, is for decision making in business. It allows the students to use the tools they have learnt in a practical context and enables them to actively participate with their peers in solving problems.

Subject learning objectives (SLOs)

Upon successful completion of this subject students should be able to:
1. Analyse, interpret and create information for the purposes of project analysis
2. Identify and explain issues that arise from a changing business environment and how they impact on a project
3. Communicate business decisions, both in written and oral form

Contribution to the development of graduate attributes

This subject brings together the economic, accounting and investment tools learnt in the other subjects within the module to enable a clear capital budgeting decision. It will ensure students can analyse the information provided and produce sound budgeting information for decision making purposes.

Teaching and learning strategies

The subject is presented in seminar format. Essential principles are presented and analysed and students are lead through practical application exercises.

Content (topics)

  • Overview of the impacts of the economic landscape in relation to investment decisions
  • Incorporate the accounting and finance tools together to improve decision making in Indigenous and other organisations.
  • Research and discuss the role and importance of understanding these concepts for Indigenous organisations in the business environment
