Description

This subject is designed for advanced Japanese language learners. Students are provided with a variety of support material that assists them in understanding and analysing film and pop culture such as anime, manga or fashion, and express themselves in written and oral form. Starting with the WWII era and extending to contemporary Japanese film and pop culture, including current transnational tendencies, students contextualise Japanese film and pop culture as a reflection of Japanese cultures, and are given various opportunities and platforms to further advance their skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Japanese.

Students take active part in developing subject content and learning activities to practise and consolidate their language skills. By the end of the session students are expected to be able to express themselves effectively and spontaneously on a variety of topics explored in class. The subject is taught in Japanese.
