Description

This subject is designed for students, who have completed Japanese 1 at UTS or its equivalent, with basic reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. Students continue to develop a working knowledge of the hiragana and katakana scripts and approximately 150 kanji, reading and writing simple texts as well as oral communication skills in both formal and informal situations. The subject also facilitates an understanding of and engagement with sociocultural contexts in which the Japanese language is used. Students develop intercultural understanding and engagement, by recognising, exploring, interpreting and moving between the languages and practices of two or more cultures. Students take active part in collaborative learning activities to practice and consolidate their language skills.
