Requisite(s): 97101 Chinese Language and Culture 1
Anti-requisite(s): 97114 Developing Chinese Reading and Writing Skills 1

This subject is designed for students who have a limited knowledge of Chinese. It aims to continue to develop students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Chinese, and their socio-cultural awareness of Chinese society and its people. Apart from further consolidating students’ use of Pinyin, allowing them to acquire a sound basis of Chinese pronunciation and intonation, the subject also increases their working knowledge of Chinese characters and enables them to communicate more competently in basic social interactions. By the end of the subject, students are expected to be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks on familiar topics and handle very short social exchanges in both spoken and written forms. Students are encouraged to actively engage in collaborative learning with their peers to improve their skills in Chinese language.
