Postgraduate

Description

This subject supports students to understand how to optimise communication and collaboration to ensure inclusive person-centred palliative care. There is particular focus on person-centred care, optimising communication skills, delivering the best culturally competent care, and integration of psychological health and wellbeing for patients, their families and carers. Strategies that are central facilitate inclusion, engagement and empowerment of individuals, families, and carers from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and marginalised populations. Developing capacities to communicate the value of palliative care to other health professionals, patients, and families is prioritised. Through enacting meaningful self-awareness, students develop understanding and effective communication and interaction skills to facilitate optimal care.
