6cp; 3 x 7hr study days and weekly online learning

Postgraduate

Description

This subject aims to advance students' professional development and non-clinical skills in the perioperative environment. Students develop their cognitive skills by analysing, consolidating and synthesising their theoretical knowledge in relation to accountability in practice, evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning and transfer this knowledge into managing complex issues. Students also establish strategies to build excellence in communication skills and teamwork. The subject also aims to enhance students' professional practice by encouraging students to critically evaluate and transform their individual and workplace leadership and decision-making skills to build excellence in their perioperative nursing practice.

This is a core subject for both the Graduate Certificate in Anaesthetics and Recovery Room Nursing (C11117) and the Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (C11116), and provides opportunities for students to collaborate across the perioperative nursing roles and specialities.
