81528 New Knowledge-making Lab

6cp
Requisite(s): 81514 Creativity and Complexity

Description

The subject is a three-week intensive transdisciplinary research lab. It allows students to take a researcher role and articulate values, principles and practices underpinning transdisciplinary knowledge creation by interviewing those who conduct this type of research, as well as collectively carrying out a deeper philosophical exploration of approaches to new knowledge production. Students gain experience of transdisciplinary research methodologies and practices in a 'research sprint', joining an existing UTS research project, to explore a complex systemic issue. In doing this, students explore advantages and limitations of transdisciplinary research approaches, as well as their generative potential in a selected research context. The subject is completed with an exploration of personal interests in transdisciplinary research, leading to the presentation of a proposal for a research project for a Creative Intelligence Capstone project.
