This subject explores the historical and theoretical significance of constructed photographic practices. Common underlying themes in the constructed image are identified, including the relationship between reality and artifice, truth and fiction, copy and original. Through a series of practical and research-driven projects, students extend technical skills and conceptual processes introduced in previous subjects. The subject's collaborative learning-focused tasks encourage experimentation with digital and analogue methods of production incorporating studio lighting techniques and medium format photography.
