In this subject students analyse differing perspectives on communication in organisations and the ways in which group processes affect organisational life. The subject focuses on the communication features of management and leadership, and aims to provide students with the ability to evaluate and critically discuss their own and others' leadership and communication styles. It enables students to make connections between theories and practice so they can develop successful team building and team management strategies. Conflict management, change management, culture creation, problem-solving and decision-making are some of the workplace challenges explored in this subject. Approaches to leadership, communication climates and motivation of staff are analysed in the context of ever-changing organisational environments, including technology and globalisation.
