Description

This subject allows students to develop their conceptual and production skills in digital publishing, with a particular focus on the app environment, such as for mobiles, tablets and similar personal networked devices. The subject explores a range of challenges and opportunities in digital app development, including cultural and design issues concerning digital products developed for Indigenous communities or about Indigenous culture; UX and UI design; location-aware technologies and apps; production methodologies; and technical issues and challenges relating to publishing and distributing for app and devices. Students develop conceptual and production skills in the new modes of storytelling, publishing and distribution that app and device formats make possible. They expand their digital content planning skills through developing a detailed app proposal and scoping document. They expand their digital production skills through technical workshops in relevant software and by working in small collaborative teams to develop a digital prototype emerging from the earlier proposals.
