Requisite(s): 24 credit points of completed study in spk(s): MAJ10046 Journalism Major OR 24 credit points of completed study in spk(s): MAJ10020 Journalism major BAComm
Anti-requisite(s): 58211 Specialist Reporting, Audiences and Interactivity

In this subject, students work in collaborative teams. They deliver interactive publications for specific audiences, through specialist genres and 'rounds' in journalism, such as environment, health, technology, arts, sports, law, media, business and politics. By pitching and developing their specialist publication to a publisher, they develop a critical understanding and ability to develop and deliver a product that engages with their target public. They develop an understanding of interactivity and audience through the use of social journalism. Students learn how to research stories using public record sources – court documents, political donations, pecuniary interest registers, FOI, company annual reports, ASIC, Hansard, etc. They develop a critical understanding of how journalism serves the public right to know and the public interest.
