Description

Network design is still as much an art as a science. The subject allows students to design a network for a medium-sized organisation and deal with real-world network analysis and design problems. By developing professional requirement analysis, problem solving and network design skills in this subject, students acquire the ability to collect user and network requirements, define network problems and select the most appropriate techniques, devices and approaches for the implementation of a network design. This subject also formalises, in a logical manner, the step-by-step analysis and design process. Many designs rely on extending an existing network for emerging requirements. Principles and issues associated with this approach to the network design problem are considered.
