This subject provides a critical understanding of global theories and practices in elite-level sports and within a variety of economic, political and sociocultural contexts. It examines the impact of globalisation on the meaning, production, consumption and performance of sport. The subject therefore seeks to develop knowledge of and sensitivity to values, customs and traditions of sport management practices in a range of international contexts. It examines how global–local forces produce pressures for the adoption or adaptation of dominant modes of sport management processes in dynamic international settings.
