Description

This capstone subject synthesises and applies prior learning to policy analysis. It focuses on lessons learnt from the successful application of market design principles in the field, including spectrum auctions to assign frequencies for wireless application, electricity markets, cap-and-trade programs for pollution permits, and matching mechanisms such as those used to link kidney donors and recipients. It promotes an understanding of how institutional rules and incentives shape economic outcomes and how to analyse an applied problem.
