Description

This subject provides students with a crucial foundation in practice-based research. Students learn about different kinds of research and their relationship to practice. Students learn to critically analyse research in their chosen practice field, and create a vision for future research that addresses contemporary practice issues as identified in their context statement and their course learning plan.

The subject emphasises research approaches that have a close connection with practice. The philosophical foundations of these approaches are examined, as are strategies used to operationalise and translate particular approaches in practice settings. Students choose to focus on an approach to researching practice appropriate to their workplace and professional requirements as outlined in their course learning plan.
