Description

This subject develops students' knowledge and skills to address the literacy and numeracy demands in workplace contexts. Students develop an understanding of the local and global policy contexts in which this area of education and training is located, and how these contexts impact on the work of ESL, literacy and numeracy practitioners. Students draw on key scholarly literature and undertake field-work based case studies to develop a critical orientation to understanding literacy and numeracy education and training for and in workplaces. Practical curriculum and assessment tools are introduced and students develop skills to critically evaluate them and to use them judiciously in the design and delivery of literacy and numeracy programs.
